Rodney Malpert - Senior Master Advancing Scholastic Chess Nationwide

Rodney Malpert has been involved in American chess for many years, with a focus on both playing and supporting community-based initiatives. Known in chess circles as a senior master, he has contributed to the organization of local events in cities such as Omaha, Dallas, Phoenix, and Lincoln. Senior Master Rodney Malpert's efforts have supported youth participation and helped develop tournament infrastructure, particularly through involvement in the Cornhusker State Games and high school leagues in Nebraska.

Before shifting his attention fully to chess, Mr. Malpert worked as a lawyer and was a senior partner at Fragomen. Since retiring from legal practice, he has remained active in promoting scholastic chess and mentoring players. His recent participation includes award presentations and informal coaching during regional events.

In addition to his chess involvement, Mr. Malpert has written on legal topics and taught courses in political science and law. His academic work has included teaching positions at SMU Law School, Arizona State Law School, Buena Vista University, the University of Nebraska, and Cornell University. He currently splits his time between Dallas, Texas, and Lincoln, Nebraska.
